Web app development: MVPs, SaaS platforms and internal tools
A custom web app costs from €5,990 with me – including a React frontend, a Laravel backend with API, a PostgreSQL database, authentication, automated tests and a CI/CD pipeline. A focused MVP typically lands at €5,990–15,000 and is often live in 6 to 10 weeks. I am Maurice de Felice, a freelance developer in Augsburg, Germany; in 2026 I built YachtBrokerBid, a public SaaS auction platform with a credit system, Stripe payments and multiple languages.
What kind of web apps do I build?
- SaaS products and marketplaces with user accounts, roles and billing.
- Auction, booking and quoting systems where availability, deadlines and payments must always add up.
- Customer portals with documents, status updates and notifications – typically €8,000–15,000.
- Internal tools that replace spreadsheets: data entry, approvals, reports and exports.
- REST APIs and admin areas, so your team can run the product without a developer for every change.
What is included in the fixed price?
- Scoping: requirements, data model and architecture – before the first line of code.
- Laravel backend with REST API, PostgreSQL database, authentication and roles.
- React frontend with TypeScript, responsive on every screen size.
- Stripe payments on request, verified on the server before anything is booked.
- Automated tests for the business logic and a CI/CD pipeline for safe deployments.
- Six months of support after launch, then maintenance at €95/hour or a maintenance contract.
- The full repository – code and content belong to you.
How do you keep an MVP small without cutting corners?
The biggest cost lever is not the hourly rate but the scope of the first version. An MVP solves one problem for one user group, with real data, real accounts and – if your business model depends on it – real payments. Everything else waits for feedback from real users.
What does not get cut is the foundation: a clean data model, security, data protection and tests. Version 2 should be an extension, not a rewrite. The guide how much an MVP costs walks through the trade-offs.
Which decisions made YachtBrokerBid fast?
On YachtBrokerBid, two decisions saved the most time. Payments run through Stripe Hosted Checkout with server-side verification instead of a self-built webhook infrastructure, and a regular reconciliation catches payments where the user closed the browser too early. Translations are managed through an interface outside the deployment, so copy changes need no release.
Where mistakes would cost money or trust, there were no shortcuts: the credit system books every movement as its own ledger line in a database transaction with row locks, so double charges and negative balances are impossible even under parallel requests. The platform went live after 12 weeks; 20 had been agreed. Read the case study.
Which technology do I use – and why?
Laravel (PHP) in the backend, React with TypeScript in the frontend, PostgreSQL as the database, Stripe for payments and Tailwind CSS for styling, plus automated tests and CI/CD. It is a widely used stack: if you ever want to continue with another team, you will find developers who know it. When a content management system is the better fit, I say so – see Laravel vs WordPress.
